ELT JOURNAL is a quarterly publication from Oxford University Press. It brings together the everyday practical concerns of teachers in the classroom, and those of academic disciplines such as applied linguistics, linguistics, psychology, and sociology that can offer significant insights into the world of ELT.Since 1946 ELT JOURNAL has been helping teachers, teacher educators, and student teachers to broaden their understanding of classroom practice, discover new ideas in methodology, and learn more about language acquisition and the English language itself.
Published in association with IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of EFL), ELT JOURNAL provides a truly international forum for the exchange of ideas and information, with contributors and subscribers from over one hundred countries.
The Editor is supported by an international Editorial Advisory Panel, whose members referee submissions.
As well as peer-reviewed articles, the Journal publishes a range of features, e.g. Key Concepts in ELT, a glossary, in encyclopaedic form, of important concepts in the field of ELT. It aims to assist readers in developing an appreciation of central ideas in ELT and in approaching the content of the articles from a perspective informed by current debate on aspects of theory and practice. Each entry is approximately 500 words long and includes definitions of the concept; notes on historical development, if appropriate; explanations and examples; and suggestions for further reading.
Each issue contains a number of authoritative reviews of recent ELT-related publications, and there are regular Survey Reviews comparing and contrasting a range of publications within a specific topic or focus area.
ELT JOURNAL on CD-ROM is an archive resource. The latest articles and reviews are available only by subscribing to the print version.
ELT JOURNAL is also available online. Subscribers to the print version may access the full text of the Journal from 1996 onwards online free of charge.
